My KDE 3.1.0 setup, under MDK 9.1, has gone a bit berko...
The nice OpenGL and other screensavers that came with KDE 3.1 are not being shown in the screensaver config dialog anymore. The executables are named *.kss, and reside in /usr/bin. They can be launched from a commandline or x file manager, so they're fine. KDE has .desktop files that define launching of these executables. These files are stored in /usr/share/applnk/System/ScreenSavers. Despite everything being where it should be no screensavers are listed when I right click on KDE desktop, then select Screensaver from the Configure Desktop dialog...
I've RTFM several times but to no avail, since the docs on how the screensaver works are very sketchy at best.
I did find a copy of that group of .desktop files in this dir...
/home/mydir/.kde/share/applnk-mdk/.hidden/ScreenSavers
I presumed that would prevent KDE from using them, but whether I rename them or move them from there altogether makes no difference to getting access to my screensavers...none are shown! :-(
Do any CLUG guys know what could cause this carnage? I'd prefer to have a screensaver running, especially a nice OpenGL one like KFlux or KEuphoria...
Kind regards,
Chris Wilkinson, Christchurch.
