ya used it b4 only i didn�t have any iptables rules made up & from the 
interface off  Mandrake control centre I wasn�t sure if it was stopping 
access from other ports or not.

only had web, mail & ftp checked.

see i think i�m totally lost!

site i visited for the iptable script was 
http://linux-firewall-tools.com/firewall/index.html

the result was a re-made script based on answers to questions.

now i want to set it up.

got as far as coping the script toetc/rc.d/firewall and saved it as 
rc.firewall.sh

but the info talked about a pump-User.

I only have 1 pc and i use this for internet access and non internet work.

any guideance appreciated.

what about guarddog i think (seen some references to it in a site called 
www.linuxguruz.com)
