Yes, but isn't it better to give lots of little bits of information, so that
it prods the person with the problem to go and try to hunt out how to fix it
themselves?

If you hand everything to everyone on a silver platter, you get nothing
done, and they do not learn. It's called "Tough Love" in other situations.

Hence my brief reply. All I was doing was pointing in another direction...
hopefully telling Dave that his problem is a lot simpler than he thinks.
(Superblock problems are *never* simple). Hopefully a good mix of google and
RTFM with 'devfs' and 'devfsd' as keywords will get him somewhere.

I'm all for showing people 'how far the rabbit hole goes', but I try not to
make a habit of holding hands while they fall... I'm already down there,
they get pulled down too fast and miss all the important stuff on the
way....
