Asking the obvious (and without wanting to do a large web search myself) -
exactly what is the problem? Or is everyone so far only describing symptoms?

You said kernel 2.6? That could be part of the problem of course.

No sorry, never did anything video myself. You said you had 3 disks there
already - that should be a big enough sample.

Keep in mind that a regular movie player handling the disk ok suggests the
disk itself is ok, but doesn't say anything about whether *your* dvdrom
reads *that* disk, which is the real question you're trying to answer.

As the drive reads the disk fine, I'd say it's a (Linux) software error. :(
