There were some rumors here about Microsoft filtering the content accessible through its search engine. But I think, and I am certainly not a fan of some of their business practices, in this case the comparison was not completely fair.
Take a closer look at what Google and the MSN search do if you enter "Windows Linux" (just the string without the quotation marks) in their search field: - Google searches for all documents containing both words - MSN searches for documents containing this string, i.e., the words "Windows" and "Linux" in this sequence, and with only punctuation or whitespace between the words To get the same out of MSN, you have to go to the Advanced Search. Now, here are the numbers for a fair comparison: Documents with both words "Windows" and "Linux": Google: about 9,240,000 MSN: about 8,667,972 Not really that much of a difference, is it? The idea of buying Google to obtain control over content delivered to Internet users might still be true... even more so after MS openly claimed they cannot separate their Media Player from the operating system, because they want to keep control over the content delivered through their technology. Whatever that means... Kind regards, Helmut Walle. +----------------+ | Helmut Walle | | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | 03 - 388 39 54 | +----------------+
