Silly me. That worked but it cycled from the default resolution to a "way too big" size so I tried adding (well my son at home actually)
X_MODE_0 = 800x600 X_MODE_1 = 1024x768 to lts.conf and restarting the client but that then gave no change when pressing Ctrl-Alt-Plus More RTFM to follow unless anyone has any bright ideas to short-cut me to my desired state.
