Actually, out of 12 boxen, only two have so much kernel debug data
appearing in dmesg that I cannot see the boot data. And I don't really
want to interrupt these boxes with a reboot just so I can collect the
dmesg output :-)

Perhaps the debug stuff isn't really needed, but it's not currently
doing any harm ...
