Comercially.... MainActor 5 - http://www.mainactor.com/ Main actor is the best so far for linux - US$200 Currently Preview only - Due for official release sometime soon. Has most of the features that Adobe Premiere 6 has, as well as some features the Adobe is missing. I will be buying a copy once it is avaliable. My wife and I do video work for weddings, performances, etc. Our very outdated website - http://www.cleancut.co.nz/ Free Projects..... cinlerra - http://heroinewarrior.com/cinelerra.php3 Personally I have not had much luck getting this one to work. Lives - http://www.xs4all.nl/~salsaman/lives/ Just found this one - havent tried it. Kdenlive - http://www.uchian.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/kdenlive.html Definately worth keeping an eye on this project. Seens to be progressing well. Kino - http://kino.schirmacher.de/ This one works - but is only really simple and very different form of editing... but not ideal for those doing serious editing. There are alot of other projects that have been started... but got nowhere. > For a start, he'll need to hook his camera (Canon XL1) up via firewire. > Then, he will need some serious editing software - we're not talking > filming granny's birthday here, we're talking film festivals. Main Actor would be the best option... otherwise you could fork out US$20,000+ for some really good commercial ones (Maya and something else) I have heard from friends in Hollywood that there is a video/film editing app being developed for Linux by someone. ( I suspect Canopus or Pinnacle have been working on it). I have also heard of Apples Final Cut Pro beeing re-compiled for Linux. My wife has actually seen it running!! But nothing officially exists!! Mike. -- Linux Rocks!
