More progress. I went to the 3Com site and downloaded a dos NIC detection utility which, when run, shows that the Boot ROM is disabled. I still now need to find how to enable it. Yes the old windows boot disk and press f8 and select safe mode boot only option. Run the Exe on the floppy from 3com with the long name. 3c9xconfig or something like that. I am sorry I cannot be more specific but I do not have the files and it is late at night. The tool should let you enable the eeprom and also set IRQ's etc. Is this the same util you were mentioning?
