hi, i've just purchased a new laptop & wanted to install the latest version of the Redhat OS - so that i can replicate the canterbury university's cosc lab computers. does any1 know where i can find a copy? are there any installfests coming up, like last year? also how much space does the OS takeup? any advice would be greatly appreciatedHi Sam,
cheers, sam
I have RH9.0 disks you can try if you like. It's a tidy & functional release, that I use at home/office.
But don't hold your breath for it to work straight off, in my experience - Knoppix (Debian-based live CD) is better to get a new laptop running. It will depend on what sort of hardware you bought.
Zane's anecdote from last evening was that a newer release would not be (forthcoming from RH or) used before next year at UoC.
2GB root dir req'd, from memory, + c256-512MB Swap recommended.
Good luck
Rik
