That is a valid question.  I worked on a system a while ago were some
kind soul has changed the root name, although I'd never thought of it.

I tried a heap of different spellings for the password that I _knew_ was
right before hard rebooting to runlevel 1, and discovering root was now
called 'RootUser' complete with capitals..

Mutter mumble, great was to waste an hours or two though, pity I wasn't
charging by the 6 minute slot....  :-).
