I'm having trouble mounting a USB 2.0 'Travelling Disk' memory stick. I've followed many Google leads, including these:
http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,3973,1256701,00.asp http://www.scotsnewsletter.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=14&t=503&st=206
but none of the instructions I've followed have resulted in a successfully mounted drive.
This is the output from lsmod:

This is an extract of (hopefully) the relevant part from dmesg:
... usb.c: registered new driver usbvnetr SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00 Initializing USB Mass Storage driver... usb.c: registered new driver usb-storage scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices Vendor: Generic Model: USB Flash Disk Rev: 1.00 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02 WARNING: USB Mass Storage data integrity not assured USB Mass Storage device found at 5 USB Mass Storage support registered. So the device appears to be recognized (to my limited knowledge, and according to what I've read), however there's no directory called /dev/sda, or /dev/sda1 etc. There are 'Block Device (link)'s for /dev/sda and /dev/sda1-4, however.
This is what happens when I plug it in:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] david]# tail -s 3 -f /var/log/messages Feb 10 22:05:51 localhost kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device 00:02.0-4.1 address 5 Feb 10 22:05:59 localhost kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:02.0-4, assigned address 6 Feb 10 22:05:59 localhost kernel: hub.c: USB hub found Feb 10 22:05:59 localhost kernel: hub.c: 1 port detected Feb 10 22:06:00 localhost kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:02.0-4.1, assigned address 7 Feb 10 22:06:03 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no modules for USB product 3538/21/1 Feb 10 22:06:03 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: Setup usb-storage for USB product 3538/22/1 Feb 10 22:06:03 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: Module setup usb-storage for USB product 3538/22/1 Feb 10 22:06:03 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb/usb-storage: Load scsimon Feb 10 22:06:03 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb/usb-storage: scsimon allready loaded
I've created a directory called /mnt/usbdrive, but there's nothing to mount yet...
Any thoughts gratefully received.
