If you are running Redhat 9 and you did the shovelware install (i.e. everything) then you have it installed already.

From a shell window :
man -k postgres

Should list all of the stuff that is appropriate.

hi, i've been trying for the last couple of weeks to get postgresql running on my home computer, so that i can simulate the COSC326 (Database Management) labs on my home computer, i.e. i need to be able to:

create & run a PostgreSQL server
create & maintain PostgreSQL databases
have jdbc support

is any1 on this list who's confident installing & configuring postgresql & who would be willing to help an extremely grateful student get it running? - i can pay money :) i have been reading the documentation, attempting to install the program & asking questions on pgsql mailing lists, but i'm still not really getting anywhere - & i'm reaching the edge of my sanity. can any1 help me?
cheers, sam

my computer details:
Dell Inspiron 600m Notepad (1.4GHz,512RAM)
