Hi,

I just moved my VIA EPIA-800 motherboard from the Cubid 2677 case to the
VIA Sereniti 2000 case. Job went smoothly, the only hiccup was the fiddly
PCI bracket adapter on the back panel (I used many expletives).

The case accepts the motherboard and I/O shield. There is plenty of room
for the hard drive. A flap on the front panel conceals space for a
full-size CD-ROM and 3.5" floppy, neither of which I have. Another flap
conceals a front mounted USB socket, 1394 socket, speaker and mic.
Unfortunately these are not compatible with the EPIA-800, and are intended
for the EPIA-M series.

Also on the front panel is an IR window. There's nothing behind it, but
you could mount a sensor there and you wouldn't have to drill a hole or
modify the case at all.

The power indicator is a bright blue LED. Man, that's sooo leet. Ahem.
The hard drive indicator is a standard green LED that glimmers wanly
alongside.

So, why did I buy a case that has a bunch of features I don't need or can't
use? Well, the fans were failing and making a hell of a noise on the Cubid
case, and I wanted a case with an integrated PSU, not the external brick
the Cubid has. The Sereniti was the smallest and cheapest guaranteed to
work with the mini-ITX. Also, with a 100W PSU it is capable of running a
CD-ROM or other peripherals without flaking- the Cubid is 55W and can run a
slimline CD but flakes occasionally with a full-size one I have found. I
might want that in the future. Now the Cubid case can be used for another
mini-ITX project...

Andy
