ImageMagick is by far the best way to process images in batches.
The commands needed are not all _that_ complex. I'm sure you can help you
friend set something up.

The MS Win binary is at:-

ftp://ftp.imagemagick.org/pub/ImageMagick/binaries/ImageMagick-5.5.7-Q8-windows-dll.exe

A help forum is at:-

http://studio.imagemagick.org/magick/

There is extensive documentation distributed in the source code archive.
A local mirror is at:-

ftp://ftp2.jetstreamgames.co.nz/gentoo/distfiles/ImageMagick-5.5.7-15.tar.bz2

NB. This PC runs Linux. If you find a virus apparently from me,
it has forged the e-mail headers on someone else's machine.
Please do not notify me when this occurs. Thanks.
