Hi again

Just to let everyone know I was able to tar up the data and copy it across
to my desktop, format the drive and remount it, then copy and untar the
data again. All seems to be working perfectly, and I now have the speed
and security that I needed. Portage has a bit of a barf if it can't set
permissions and time etc.

I suppose now maybe the question is ext3, xfs, jfs or reiserfs? But that's
a different thread entirely :o)

The reason I asked was just to see if there was some neat trick I didn't
know on how to do this. Jim's suggestion of netcat certainly was a neat
trick and I'll look into it.

Thanks all
