I've done one to say I'd done it, but used a HD to boot from, so not
strictly an LTSP client.

I used woody, and set it up to auto-login to a user who's shell was a
script to do an X -query <server>

The idea of using a CF card is good though..  Setup a minimal Linux with
X in the machine, so you don't need to write to the card at all (no
logging/swap etc) and then do a dd from the IDE drive to a CF card
sitting in an IDE-CF adaptors..
