It is in slackware-current. I am running it, have been for a few days 
now.

It hasn't affected me in the slightest, TBH I wouldn't even know the 
difference from 4.3 if I hadn't read the summary of new features in 
4.4.0 (http://xfree.org/4.4.0/RELNOTES2.html#2)
