Laugh. There is no-one to fight back against - the originating machines are "innocent" victims - as innocent as anyone can be, putting a Microsoft machine onto the Internet. I suppose you could rig Apache to return a payload for those requests that's smaller than the default 404 document, but there'll be a new standard attack coming along soon and you'd then have to rig up a reply at that, then there'll be another, and another ... eventually you just give up and soak up the bandwidth by comparing the cost of it to the cost of your time. There are no "computer viruses", there are only "Microsoft viruses". -jim
