I've got a Debian installation that I installed off Knoppix and I've upgraded the RAM from 512MiB to 1.5GiB.
The only problem is that although the BIOS recognises all the memory, Linux only seems to recognise 1GiB.
Where do I start looking to find my missing 512MiB?
Your kernel !!
Most likely you have not enabled HIGHMEM4G in your kernel.
Processor Type .... -> High Mem Support -> 4GB
Select this if you have a 32-bit processor and between 1 and 4 gigabytes of physical RAM.
Give that a whirl.
Cheers,
Tim
