Hummmm..... Nick you just have to keep reminding me you're a lawyer don't you :p :)
I agree. I also have to confess that I produced a big web site once a got blasted by many in the community for not making it w3 compliant. When I looked into it I realised that there was so much rework involved that I just threw in the towel on the issue. Why doesn't FP and other dev tools have compliance checking built in that's easy to use? (MS I know you listen... go make it a new feature in the next edition of FP and I might think about using FP again. :) Cheers Don ps: Nick, from a legal pov should I have underlined the word 'might'? ;) > -----Original Message----- > From: Nick Rout [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Monday, May 03, 2004 4:52 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: The www.thewarehouse.co.nz menu saga goes on... > > > If I was him I'd be asking the developers to do it for free, they > produced the faulty code! > > However it is probably a case of getting what you asked for > in the forst > place. > > imaginary scenario: > > developer; what platforms do you want us to develop for? > > clueless customer who has no idea what the issue is: err... > what do you > recommend? > > dev: we tend to develop for internet explorer because its > easier for us > that way, we have the tools for it, the majority of customers use it, > and that makes it cheaper all round for you because we > understand it and > do it all the time. > > cust: sounds good to me, now will it look good? > > six months later > > cust: our customers are complaining they can't use the website because > they use obscure browsers > > dev: ah yes i have it here in the contract that you wanted us > to develop > it for IE, now if you want more you pay more. > > On Mon, 03 May 2004 16:36:44 +1200 > Don Gould <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > I have been speaking with the developers about this issue. > > They have not given me a figure as to how much the issue > will cost to > > fix however we are looking at ways to remove the javascript and drop > > down menus although this may call for some rejigging of the content. > > I appreciate your offers of assistance.
