Hi again, Chrooted ok & Gentoo kernel now looks ready to fire, but while I'm here it seems best to finish all essentials & follow the instructions thru to the designated reboot point (eg write fstab etc 1st).
This is where I got stuck Saturday: P4-2656 linux # emerge -p ati-drivers These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! [ebuild N ] app-arch/rpm2targz-9.0-r2 [ebuild N ] media-video/ati-drivers-3.2.8-r1 Does anyone know if these are correct for an: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon IGP 340M RS200 4337 [says Suse]? searching www.Gentoo now.. Cheers Rik PS this Suse box is already descending into "RPM hell", because I tried following someone's advice & downloaded Ximian RedCarpet to manage RPMs. This wants its own customised GTK files, & I don't think Suse is coping with substitutions (Yast System Update - Packages has multiple red text "Requires manual intervention" entries, for items newer than it wants): P4-2656:/home/rik/data/in/download/redcarpet # rpm -Uvh rcd-2.2.0-0.ximian.8.2.i586.rpm red-carpet-2.2.3-0.ximian.8.0.i586.rpm rug-2.2.0-0.ximian.8.0.i586.rpm warning: rcd-2.2.0-0.ximian.8.2.i586.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID fd4fe9e9 error: Failed dependencies: python-gtk >= 2.0.0-31.ximian.1 is needed by red-carpet-2.2.3-0.ximian.8.0 easy fix? -- InfoHelp Services http://www.infohelp.co.nz.linux.html i686 2.4.21-215-default Suse Linux 9.0 - OpenOffice 1.1.0 - Gnome 2.2.2 - Evolution 1.4.4 - Mozilla 1.4
