I (also a lurker)agree with Gareth on this one, many of us aspire to running Gentoo some time in the future when able to obtain suitable hardware, so interesting to see the issues come up and solutions offered tried,success or not etc.
BTW - at the moment - still very happy with hard drive install of Mepis and trying (and so far liking) Xandros 2.0SE (magazine cover version) on my main desktop machine. I vote no :-) While I don't post much on this list these days (not sure why, heh), I do still lurk and read pretty much everything. Nick's emerge --ask tip is a good example of why. ie. I find I pick up useful / interesting stuff from time to time. Talking about Gentoo Linux on a Linux mailing list is about as on-topic as you can get IMHO.
