Should I risk it going from Fedora core 1 to 2, given
that I'm running a 2.6.6 kernel, and it's tuned for Oracle?

That being the case, my opinion is:-
Keep the security fixes up to date, but don't toutch anything else for the
time being.

Last time I looked there was ~1GB of updates to Fedora 1.

My install is up2date (: , with the exception of the kernel fixes, which are at 2.4.22 istr. As the 2.4 tree is at 2.4.26, keeping in sync with that is a bit silly.
