Yes the term is CLOSED!

How i got it running.....

type lftp (give me a command prompt below)

LFTP:> From here you can open ftp sites move through directories, 
upload/download files plus lots of other things.

By using the ! before a command you are saying this command is for local use 
eg !ls is to lsit the files in the current local directory where as ls is to 
look at the remote sites� file list.

i have in the past closed the lftp session (_not_ the term screen) and got a 
message continuing download in background).

at least that is the gist of the message.

and i have seen it in KDEguard also.

while in LFTP i can do other things and go back to the download(s) by using 
ForeGround (FG) plus job number (if more than 1 download is in progress).
eg 
    fg 1 fg 2 or fg for the last download put into background mode.

anymore ideas ????
