Well, thinks I. Let's upgrade to 2.4.26-1-686 and grab the latest wlan
drivers while I'm at it. Edit lilo.conf, run LILO, reboot. Up comes the
boot menu, loads up, BIOS wotnot OK. Screen goes blank.

Hang on. Screen goes blank? Screen doesn't usually go blank. Engage
brain.

Now the blasted laptop just sits there, blinking its numlock and
capslock lights at me. I assume this means "I can't boot". Buggered if I
can figure out why. I can still rescue the system with the old kernel,
but that ain't what I'm after.
