We all had to start somewhere.

Not necessarily so, but from what I have read about them they do seem to be
pretty keen on shielding the user from the details, so if you really want to
lean about Linux it might be better to use something else. Which one is a
matter of opinion. Note that Xandros is a new name in the Linux world. It
has yet to establish a reputation. Only time will tell.

Very good reasons.

There are programs which will do the same jobs in different ways, but nothing
that is compatible in the 'identical' sense of the word.

While I'm sure you are welcome to join in the fun, that should not be
necessary. There are, without doubt, the skills needed to install the
software for your TV card available in Dunedin. Make contact with the Dunedin
LUG. You might care to join the Dunedin LUG list. Clicking on this link will
hopefully do that for you.

otoh a list member in Dunedin could well make themselves known to you.
hint, somebody.

NB. This PC runs Linux. If you find a virus apparently from me,
it has forged the e-mail headers on someone else's machine.
Please do not notify me when this occurs. Thanks.
