There are several of us on the list who have found Gentoo to our liking. I have no idea as to your general knowledge about computers, but if you have a reasonable understanding of the lore, you might find Gentoo appealing.
( It might be a bit of a baptism of file / jumping in at the deep end :-)

You will need a fairly grunty machine.
600 ~ 700 MHz is a realistic minimum.
Under 400MHz is totally unworkable.

I can offer CDs for this Distribution.

Like all Linux distros, there are a ( very ) few points of failure, but in my experience fewer than most of the others. They have completely fixed the RPM hell & upgrade nonsense.



Thanks for the info Christopher but as i am new to anything other than point and click, I will wait till get more understanding of how to work things(am a newbe)
