what driver was tried for the modem? I recall we corresponded some time
ago  which referred to the slmodem driver. I assume you pointed that out
to the installer, and that the slmodem was tried??


what were the results?

if the modem truly does not work (and that would not tie in with the
results posted on the internet about this laptop, i suggest you have
plenty of options:

1. wanaka has adsl;or
2. an external modem; or
3. use an old computer as a gateway to the internet at home, and put a
real modem in it.

You get that for buying Canon I guess. complain to them, they produce the
crap. point out that you will buy HP next time so you have the option to
use something other than windows.

often multifunction devices _will_ still function as printers, although
their other functions may not work. thats an exercise to look at.
