So do you want a PCI network card or a PCI video card? You won't go wrong with the nvidia one though... It will have good performance in windows and linux. The onboard card may have acceptable performance in windows (due to drivers being better)
What does the other half need a flash card for? -----Original Message----- From: Nick Rout [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, 19 July 2004 2:00 p.m. To: CLUG Subject: OT - PCI network cards Slightly on topic...wait for it. I bought a second hand compaq small form factor pc last week for the better half to use. 600MHz, inbuilt 4M i180 graphics, 128M RAM. I need better graphics. Can anyone point me to a good value PCI graphics card? I want at least 32M video ram. Tastech seems to have the best value with this: Aopen MX4000 nVidia MX400 Video Card, 64Mb DDR, 1x TV Out, (comes with low profile bracket) $90. theres also a very cheap SiS 305 Video Card, 32Mb for $55, but i don't much like SiS... Any other suggestions welcomed. Must support *linux* of course, although it will spend most of its time in w2k. -- Nick Rout <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
