Three answers to this problem:-

1. Often the problem can be with the paper, either poor quality or poor
condition (analogy = car tyres slipping on slippery or loose surfaces)

2. "Dirty" rollers can be cleaned with non-oily cleaners to bring back their
grip

3. Rollers can get to a stage where no amount of cleaning will bring them
back to life and they have to be replaced. They often go hard and they often
go soft, almost like chewing gum consistency.

Subject: OT - Fixing too-smooth printer rollers

Sorry this is OT. Well sort of - the printer is attached to a linux box and
shared via CUPS (RMS is welcome to ask me how I set it up).

Problem: The rollers are worn out. More than half the time it doesn't pick
up
the paper. This is an HP Deskjet 670C.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I have heard you can roughen the rollers
up,
but I need to be sure I don't wreck anything.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers
