New thread to discuss the deplorable IT stuff in schools - I helped a
Community Group get some kids to play with digital photography yesterday.
We had the use of a local secondary school which will remain nameless.

They were using licensed copy of a windows shareware program called
Paint Shop Pro, version 4.something - I think the latest is 7 or 8. The
PSP software has always been pretty good, but the version we had was a
bit old...

I asked why they had the old version - "licensing costs, we use
photoshop for the serious photography classes, but that costs an arm and
a leg"

I am going to send the guy a link to the gimp website, the gimp of
course being available for windows, and having no licensing issues.

Naturally neither photoshop nor PSP come within the MS/Ministry
licensing deal, sosome schools are still paying very real money for some software.
