Its so long since I used 1.3 that I'm not 100% sure, but I'll take a shot: *up to date kernel etc. *a new (web) gui. very tasty. *fancier network and system graphs *you'll be aware that 1.3 has the concepts of red (internet) orange (dmz and green (lan) interfaces, 1.4 adds blue (wireless). *the abilty to set up dhcp so that it sets up the same address every time for particular clients, and also an integration to its dns server, so you get forward and reverse dns on your lan with no effort. *traffic shaping, although I have not played with this a lot. *lots of new vpn options, although I can't say i have got it to work yet :-) *I suspect lots of new broadband devices, some of which we do not even see in enzed. * the ability to backup your settings over the network as well as to floppy. * scsi support * new build system based on linux from scratch instead of redhat packages (not too relevant to end users perhaps) I suspect there is a lot more that I have forgotten. Installed size is / 225 MB /boot 3.8MB /var/log is also a sep partition. this includes 2 kernels, smp and non-smp, so you can save a bit by removing the /lib/modules/2.4.27-smp tree (5.7M), the smp kernel itself (about 1M). ipcop has a mkflash script which does something about moving the system onto CF, but I have never used it. I am pretty sure it will go on 256M CF, but if you want a definitive answer I will have to dig around a bit. How is smoothwall these days? Is Richard Morrell still a rude and arrogant f***wit threatening to sue everyone who asks civil questions? > Nick Rout wrote: > > >olwen, and others interested, 1.4.0b9 now available.... > > > >On Wed, 2004-08-11 at 19:55, Olwen Williams wrote: > > > > > >>That's the one I have :-) :-) > >>Nick Rout wrote: > >> > >> > >> > >>>the latest is 1.4.0b8 > >>> > >>>if you can see this message it works :-) > >>>On Wed, 2004-08-11 at 18:20, Olwen Williams wrote: > >>> > >>> > >>> > >>>>Sorry, I've found it :-) I just couldn't read > >>>> > >>>>Olwen Williams wrote: > >>>> > >>>> > >>>> > >>>> > >>>>>Has anyone had experience with this. > >>>>> > >>>>>I'm interested in it for it, but can't locate an ISO and wondered if > >>>>>there is one or if it is necessary to build it (that would be too hard > >>>>>for me at the moment) > >>>>> > >>>>> > >>>>> > > > > > > > > > > >
