I have been running it since I installed 2.6, and it works fine with my little USB drive. If you run udev and GNOME then I recommend installing the GNOME Volume Manager (apt-get install gnome-volume-manager), which is one of the test-beds for the new udev/d-dbus/HAL system that will (finally) give Linux sane removable device support.
