I'm using a fairly good quality Plantronics headset so this could make quite a bit of difference to the quality of my encoded signal.
Wear headphones if you have them to prevent sound from speakers being picked up by your mic and transmitted back to the other person. It's annoying hearing yourself echoed back constantly. Oh, one more thing. I haven't tried it yet, but apparently you can call several Skype users at once and hold a conference call.
