Great, that's a partial fix. I can start YOU without the error message. I have a manually entered server and can get patches from it.

Now I'd like to be able to populate the list of servers without having to manually enter them using the info displayed on the notebook - can I simply grab a list from a config file somewhere on the notebook?

I think that is the same problem I encountered when I tried to use YOU for

changed with the first update)

I eventually found an answer on Google and noted it at the very bottom of

Now that I have SuSE running on my notebook, I realise that there are a few minor problems with the desktop install. When I go to use the Yast Online Update tool (YOU) I first get

"could not write server list to disk."

and the list of installation sources (ftp servers) is blank. Presumably this listed in a configuration file somewhere, and I am thinking I could just copy it from notebook to desktop to populate the list. But perhaps there is more to it than meets the newbie's eye - maybe a permission problem?

My 5 minutes of googling (sorry to contradict you Douglas!) hasn't got me anywhere. Can anyone help?

Roger
