Ahhh there is another Acer Travelmate in NZ!!! I had the same problem - the internal modem is a Pctel derivitive, specifically (from lspci) Intel Corporation|PCTEL 2304 WT V.92 MDC Modem [COMMUNICATION_MODEM] I tried various drivers for it from the Pctel website as well as a variety of other places but could not get the device to play at all (I'm using Mandrake 10.0) and finally gave up and shelled out for a PCMCIA cardbus modem. I'm convinced the *98 I spent at DSE for an XH1145 was a far better solution to the hours and days I spent trying to make the internal one work. Cheers John
