One can then be absolutely certain that what is in the /proc/config.gz file is 
what is the undiluted truth of the matter. I'm not saying that your are 
fibbing, I do know how easy it is to change a config file and then forget you 
have done the change.

In order to help you effectively we _really_ do need the o/p of the mount 
command before and after you have tried to mount the naughty partition.
