Cheers Nick & Jim, I'm a regular Synaptic-er, and find the updates more straight-forward than SuSE's (which is saying a lot). I believe the latest wvdial fixed a continuous redial fault (while connected). There's no rc.local tho.
I'm just finding consistent time to put into it now, so obviously I need to test a lot more, & read the docu's. Keeping it online while mobile is necessary to make it a workaday platform - where I'm starting. Will attend their site/s, & try to add anything found constructive.
