Hey guys - got a piccie up on my site showing Xebian Linux running on a modded X-Box. Nice wee set-up for someone who wants a DVD Player/gaming machine, but also wants todo some light email/web surfing using Linux but doesn't have a cable modem. More importantly very cheap too!
Have a look... http://www.planetnz.com/palmheads/myhacks.php#xbox Gotta say, Xebian is really nice. Based on Debian, it has a small wee onscreen keyboard (if you haven't for a USB converter/USB hub to plug in keyboards/mice etc), uses XFCE as the window manager, so its light, but still lots of nice features. Seems bizarre surfing the web using Mozilla through the TV, but you get used to it! I'm not a gamer at all. I use it mainly as my DVD player, but its connected to my internal network to share files using Samba off my PC from the lounge (usng XBoxMediaCenter etc), and if I'm too lazy to get off the couch to check my email, surf the web etc using Xebian. cheers Daryn ========================== The PalmHeads http://www.planetnz.com/palmheads
