I have to agree. Carl Cereke gave a talk on using the command line, and had a very simple set of commands (using cut, sort, uniq and their ilk) to process a text file various ways. He probably doesn't know it but it affected me profoundly. Once you see "the unix way", viz. stringing together simple parts to make a complex whole then you'll be hooked. Command line goodness soon leads to scripts, which then lead to cron jobs- it's a slippery slope... Andy
