Ugh, not sure where I got it from (SusE support pages I think) but I
never used 9.0.

In level 3 and 5? Good. Actually, much simpler would be to temp rename
/sbin/SuSEfirewall2 and tomake that a link to /bin/true.

I'd say ipv6 is disabled if the modules aren't loaded... lsmod.

You'd probably want it, esp on a server, it hooks somewhere into the
name resolution functions and establishes a cache for looked up results.
However for zeroing in on your problem now you don't want it.
