Perhaps not quite what you're after, but I really love the GMail Notifier extension for Firefox: http://www.nexgenmedia.net/extensions/ It's convenient, and out of the way. While it won't give you subject lines, it'll tell you the number of new messages you have and your inbox is one click away. Chris
