I seem to remember them having an area where they showed examples of people 
creating a dish out of various items ( woks, etc) they showed them setup with 
a jerry rig that went out 3kms to an island in wellington harbour ( shore - 
island). So i think it could be done for less, How much less depends on your 
engineering electronics know-how.
