That's why I said *independent* interpreters. kghostscript is not even a pdf interpreter, it's just some colourful facade to gs. Dito kpdf, which uses xpdf's rendering engine. We're dealing with rendering problems here, therefore only the rendering engine is of interest, not their GUIs.
