I thought it would be difficult to create a Debian package - boy was I mistaken.
After a good amount of reading (Thanks Mr Google) I decided to give it a go. Aproximately 15 Minutes later I had created my first ever .deb I still have some work to do on it to improve the pre/post install scripts so that they are not so dangerous, but it worked! (Currently only safe to use on a fresh HD Install of Knoppix 3.6!) I now have a simple to install package that auto detects USB Storage devices and adds an icon automatically to the current desktop. It also removes the icon when the device is removed. The credit for the automounting etc goes to: USBMOUNT SCRIPT Michael Hamilton http://users.actrix.co.nz/michael/usbmount.html AUTO MOUNTING/UNMOUNTING SETUP Bart Samwel http://www.xs4all.nl/~bsamwel/usb_storage_on_debian.html Some basic Notes on creating Debain Backages Joe "Zonker" Brockmeier http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-debpkg.html But it was a good learning curve and a surprize to see how simple it was to make a .deb Mike -- Linux Rocks!
