This is a belated thanks to those involved with getting DVDs working on my (wife's) laptop.
Thanks to Chad for advising that I needed to do: urpmi libdvdcss2 Thanks to Nick for pointing me to the "Easy Urpmi" website. I couldn't complete the urpmi on the night of the fix-up (and lively general meeting) due to connectivity problems at St Alban's and didn't want to finish it by dial-up at home, so thanks to Paul from E-Caf for your great facility and allowing customers to plug in their own laptops. And of course thanks to Jon Johansen and the EFF for sticking up for him. RESULTS: ~~~~~~~ mplayer plays some DVDs but crashes on others. However, totem plays all DVDs without a hitch (all that I've tried so far). When I insert some DVDs, K3b loads up automatically. When I insert other DVDs, totem loads up automatically.
