The other thing is that those keys do not always work if:

(a) they are disabled in your X configuration; or
(b) you are locked into one resolution by your X configuration.

what the man wants to do is change his font sizes, not his desktop size.

Until he tells us more about what he is using, this is pretty much all
guess work.

(maybe he cannot see the replies LOL)
