in that light i can tell you a funny story that happened yesterday: my grandmother and my mother use Window Maker, because that's what i use, and that's easiest to explain to them when they have the same environment as mine. now yesterday somehow my grandmother accidently managed to change the choice to gnome. as a result of that, panic ensued, because my grandmother could not figure out how to run things. my mother still had wmaker, but she slao could not figure out how to fix my grandmothers login or even somehow make use of the gnome desktop. other relatives where asked for help, which, not linux savy, only made useless suggestions like rebooting. i received emails from my mother, my grandmother (via my mothers account), my uncle, ... informing me of the problem... eventually i managed to fix the problem and explain to my mother via talk(1) how to find the session choices in the kdm login screen incase this should happen again. this is not easy when they are not familiar with the terminology, and use strange words to explain their problems. sometimes i get emails where i simply have no clue as to what in the world they are talking about. greetings, martin. -- looking for a job doing pike programming, sTeam/caudium/pike/roxen training, sTeam/caudium/roxen and/or unix system administration anywhere in the world. -- pike programmer travelling and working in europe open-steam.org unix system- bahai.or.at iaeste.(tuwien.ac|or).at administrator (stuts|black.linux-m68k).org is.schon.org Martin Bhr http://www.iaeste.or.at/~mbaehr/
