device sr0

In the /dev directory are files sr0, sr1 etc to sr15. I can't view them or anything else.   How can I increase the number of these to sr42   This has to do with my 6 disk cd changer which I asked about in an earlier post and which is now working but I have 7 of these which will mean I need to go up to sr42   any help thanks   Gary
